| Jean Forsyth |
| c. 1829 - 13th February 1858 |
Jean Forsyth was born c. 1829. The 1851 census indicates that this event took place at New Cumnock.
Jane Forsyth appears in the 1841 census for New Cumnock as a house servant, aged ten, in the household of John and Elizabeth Burnside of Main, New Cumnock.
Jean was married to Abram Yeudall at Mauchline on the 22nd of June, 1849. She was entered in the OPR for Galston as resident in the parish of Mauchline. The OPR for Mauchline gives a more specific residence, but unfortunately it is illegible.
Jean Forsyth died on the 13th of February 1858, at 6h p.m., at Henrietta Street, Galston. The cause of death was certified as phthisis, from which she had been suffering for five months. She was interred at Galston Parish Churchyard.
Note that the Concise Oxford Dictionary defines this condition as a 'Progressive wasting disease, now esp. pulmonary tuberculosis.'
